Image tagging for Image:Relief04.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Relief04.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Unspecified source for Image:BampuorCastel.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BampuorCastel.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:34, 13 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. roozbeh 15:34, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

big long quote in Iranian Revolution

[edit]

Sa.vakilian went to some trouble to translate a long quote by khomeini ("a commandment") for the Iranian Revolution article [1] but it is rather long and may not be following wikipedia form. We created a quotation section at the end that I'm thinking might suit it better. Please weigh in with an opinion at [2] (Any other ideas on how to improve Iranian Revolution would be welcome too.) Image:Elamite.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Elamite.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok 01:46, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see you have self-identified as a backpacker by using the ”This user enjoys backpacking” userbox. I invite you to rejoin the backpacking project. It recently reactivated. There is plenty of good work to do improving the encyclopedia’s coverage of backpacking equipment, organizations, celebrities, books, skills, and trails. The project provides a system to rate articles and prioritize editing efforts. Visit the project’s page, take a look, and please consider joining me in improving the articles and coverage of an activity we both enjoy.

Iranian notable people and events

There is a discussion about vital articles in Wikipedia talk:Vital articles#Eurocentreism. My friend told me you know a lot about Persian culture and history. Can you please help me to choose most notable articles. Khoda negahdar. --Sa.vakilian(t-c) 04:15, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I proposed some notable persons and other issues and added six of them in the list. I clarified my criteria. But it's my own idea. Racism

[edit]
  • Hello, I need you to leave me a message explaining why you keep removing "Anti-Iranian" from the Racism article. I am going to rewrite the article to use Iranian examples, and I will need to know exactly why you keep removing Iranan references from it. Padishah5000 03:29, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I will go ahead and rewrite it tomorrow to add references that show racism against Iranians. Middle Eastern may be an ambiguous term to you, but it is considered a geographic region, and thus does have some bearing on the article. With the addition of references to the article siting Iranians as victims of discrimination, that should end the issue. Padishah5000 07:40, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I am somewhat concerned about your rational and distaste for not wanting Anti-Iranian as a wiki article, being linked to an article on racism. The reasoning behind it should be addressed. Padishah5000 07:48, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please assume good faith. I could behave differently.--Sa.vakilian(t-c) 10:48, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Amir85, to start let me just say I walked out on the Persian user I was debating with b/c of his total disregard for showing any good faith, just an FYI if you care :-\. Anyways, regarding your comments on looking further into some sources, more notably the Cambridge History of Iran, I gathered several page references from the book regarding historical Persians texts/records and their possible fates if you'd like to check that out:

Cambridge History of Iran, Vol. 3: Page xx, Page 513, Page xxiii

If you do have doubt on my being bias or not, mind you if that was a problem I don't think I would've given at least one of the above sources though don't let that stop you from further looking into it yourself too of course. I couldn't find anything regarding the topic in volume 4 mind you. I also IIRC provided a source from Encyclopedia Iranica on the discussion (not the ibn khaldun one) if you give any weight to that source. Lastly, if you find this message in bad faith, my apologies, I have no intentions for that. Jedi Master MIK 04:11, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Naqshe_rostam.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. cohesion 04:52, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The description page of Image:E3 5 4a sassanian.jpg, which you uploaded in April 2005, says it comes from http://www.iranchamber.com/art/articles/art_of_sassanians.php . But this is not correct; the image does not appear on that page (anymore?). There seems to be some confusion over the image's copyright status, and it is in danger of being deleted. If you can, please explain on Image:E3 5 4a sassanian.jpg or Image talk:E3 5 4a sassanian.jpg the exact source of that image. --Quuxplusone 20:43, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Schapur I.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Schapur I.jpg.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:59, 17 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. roozbeh 18:59, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Naqshe rostam660.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Naqshe rostam660.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:50, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Koavf changed the article name back to Human rights in Iran 9 March 2008,
  • Crazy Suit changed it back to Human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran a couple weeks later, 23 March 2008.

The article Battle of Nisibis (530) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-existent event: there was no "Battle of Nisibis" in 530 or in the Iberian War in general. The only battles fought near Nisibis in that war were the battles at Mindouos and Dara, which are known under that name alone. From the text, the editor who created this seems to have confused this with the later Battle of Callinicum.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Constantine 16:45, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:E3 5 4a sassanian.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:E3 5 4a sassanian.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 17:39, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:E3 5 4a sassanian.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:E3 5 4a sassanian.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 17:39, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:ArdashirII .jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ArdashirII .jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:07, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. We're into the last five days of the Women in Red World Contest. There's a new bonus prize of $200 worth of books of your choice to win for creating the most new women biographies between 0:00 on the 26th and 23:59 on 30th November. If you've been contributing to the contest, thank you for your support, we've produced over 2000 articles. If you haven't contributed yet, we would appreciate you taking the time to add entries to our articles achievements list by the end of the month. Thank you, and if participating, good luck with the finale!

User group for Military Historians

[edit]

Greetings,

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group.
